What’s the only thing better than a peaceful walk around beautiful Lake Junaluska? The perfect sweet You Are Already at the Lake. We Are Already Here.
The most common thing we hear from first-time visitors is some version of “I had no idea this was here.” They came to Lake Junaluska for a conference, a wedding, a family reunion, or just a walk around the lake. They got hungry. And instead of driving into Waynesville, they found a cafe ten feet from where they were already standing.
That is the whole idea. Crepe & Custard exists because the Lake Junaluska grounds have thousands of visitors and no other spot to grab a fresh meal between the gardens, the auditorium, and the lakeside path.
What Works for Each Situation
If you are here for a conference: the walk from the auditorium to the cafe takes about three minutes. A savory crepe and a coffee make for a better midday break than the vending machines. You can eat on the porch, check your phone, and be back before the next session starts.
If you are here with family: kids do well with the simpler crepes (Nutella and banana is reliable) and the frozen custard. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables. There is no need to pack snacks or load everyone back into the car.
If you are walking the trail: the cafe is right along the path near the Welcome Center. It works as a starting fuel stop, a midpoint break, or a finish-line reward depending on where you are in the loop.
If you are here for a wedding or event: a quiet crepe and a cup of custard on the porch the morning before or the afternoon after is a nicer moment than most people expect to find.
